WYATT'S 1ST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

Wyatt is officially a Kindergartner!

It was his big day and I wanted it to be super special for him. I mentioned in a previous post that my parents would always take us out for breakfast on the first morning of school, but there's just no way for me to get my family to a restaurant for an enjoyable meal that early in the morning. What's more, I'm certain someone would get a food stain on their brand new clothes. So, why not have a First Day of School Breakfast Feast at home?! And so our tradition began!

I asked Wyatt what he loved to eat for breakfast. He said spaghetti. Um, no son. Breakfast. I started naming off breakfast food and he quickly chimed in with "waffles and doughnuts." That's more like it. Since this breakfast was only for our family I didn't have to worry about having a lot of food choices or a large quantity of food. I also chose to serve food that I didn't have to cook the morning of the Feast. I served Waffles, Doughnuts, Fruit, Breakfast Casserole Bites, and Chocolate Milk.

Of course, I wanted to make some decorations for the table too, and I'm proud to say I didn't have to go to the craft store to buy one thing! Whoo-Hoo! I downloaded a free font, Crayon Crumble, that I used to make some school inspired prints and food tents. (Quick Note: After downloading the font, the letter "g" wouldn't work. I had to spell doughnuts as donuts.) I found the idea for the ruler table runner here and the flash card garland here thanks to Pinterest.

And y'all know of my obsession with felt. I use it for photo props all of the time, but this time I made a school bus.I had to remove some artificial greenery to make room for the bus, but I thought it found a nice home in this basket.

After breakfast it was bath time then time to get dressed, and didn't he look so handsome!

Let me also quickly mention that Delta Mae attended her first dance class this same morning, but it deserves it's own post, so that's coming soon.

We grabbed his lunchbox and back pack and made our way to Benedict Day School!

Mr. Big Stuff jumped right into the swing of things.

His cubby was decorated with some artwork that he painted earlier this summer and periodic table squares with his initials. Cute!

We stepped into his classroom and he started acquainting himself with his teachers and classmates. I overheard him telling his Assistant Teacher, Mrs. Lynda, "My Mama forgot to draw a heart on my hand."

We fixed that up really quick and then the water works began... for me.

Wyatt caught a glimpse of his friend, Graham, and they made a bee-line to each other.

They are buddies from preschool.

Then it was my turn.

Then Granny's turn.

Finally, we were ready to let him begin his day at school.

We said our goodbyes and I love yous, and started to make our way out. Then, bless her heart, poor Delta Mae started sobbing saying, "I want my Bruh-Bruh!"

She was so distraught and I had never even thought of how this was going to affect her. Big Brother consoled her before we left. So, so sad but so, so sweet.

After we left we joined the other BDS Kinder Moms at Huddle House for coffee, but we had to cut our visit short to take Delta Mae to dance class! More later...
