FRIGHT NIGHT 2022

Having recently finished binging Stranger Things with Brad and Wyatt, I had an idea to host a scary movie night for Halloween this year. Wyatt and Delta Mae were on board with the idea and just like that, Fright Night 2022 was born.

We sifted through a variety of scary movies and settled in on watching The Ring for the teenagers and Hocus Pocus for Delta Mae and her friend, Raylee. The invite was sent!

My balloon garland obsession continues and that’s pretty much all we did as far as decorating goes. I guess that’s kind of part of having older kids - or at least a teenage boy. He doesn’t seem to care if decorations are up or not. I picked up a Frankenstein cake from Edgar’s Bakery, too. It was so cute!! Let’s get to the photos, shall we.

With as much talking as there was going on during the movie, I don’t think anyone was a risk of having a nightmare that night. Mostly, they laughed through the scary parts. Wyatt conveniently got up for a sips of water every now and then, though. 😉

The teenage gals headed home and shenanigans ensued. I never know what to expect when there’s so many teenage boys in the house, but you can almost guarantee that someone is bound to leave with bruises and something will be broken. This time was no different. They keep us young, and I love it!
Never have I ever ordered 18 sausage biscuits from McDonald’s but it didn’t seem to frazzle the lady that took my order that the drive through one bit the next morning.

Here to hoping Fright Night is a new tradition!

EXPLORING THE CAROLINAS || ZIPLINING
I mentioned Biltmore pics would be up next, but there’s just so many of them (over 600), so I figured we’d skip along and fill you in on another adventure.
Delta Mae and I made a short drive over to Barnardsville to zip through the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Navitat mountain top tour included three zips, each with parallel lines so we could zip side-by-side each time. The views were incredible, as were our guides.
All smiles the whole time. We had an incredible time.

EXPLORING THE CAROLINAS || WHITEWATER RAFTING

Delta Mae and I took a mommy/daughter trip over Fall Break this year and we cruised through the Carolinas, stopping first in Asheville, North Carolina. We spent the first day hanging out downtown, but the fun really started first thing the next morning.

I booked us a full day whitewater rafting adventure on the French Broad with Nantahala’s Outdoor Center, so we made a short drive to Marshall, North Carolina, and we suited up. (Wetsuits provided at no additional cost.)

Our guide’s name was Maris and she was an absolute pleasure. She navigated us through the waters with ease and filled us in on interesting facts along the way. Her instructions were straightforward as far as what paddling we needed to do to position us into the best spots along the river. There were some pretty incredible views along the way, too.
The full-day excursion comes with lunch and they prepared a wonderful build-you-own wrap bar atop one of the rafts. Pretty great meal with a view.
A little over six hours later, we made it back and got to take a look at the action shots that were taken of us along the way. They got some pretty great shots and you can tell we were having a great time out on the river.
Neither Delta Mae nor I had ever been whitewater rafting before, so it was special sharing this first together. Looking forward to doing it again someday down the road.

Up next, The Biltmore! 🏰
