CHRISTMAS 2021

Another Christmas morning in the books and this one started early. Wyatt asked for an electric guitar and Delta Mae asked for some Betsey Johnson luggage as their Santa gifts. We're happy to report Santa came through on those requests. 🎅 Both of the kids were pretty easy to buy for this year considering Wyatt's obsession with all things guitar/rock and Delta Mae's love for all things Harry Potter, not to mention her continued love for jewelry and make-up. And we got Bradley a spear. And he loved it. Here are a few photos to document our Christmas morning.
We've spent the rest of our day watching the final two Harry Potter movies and Home Alone 2, playing two new games (don't waste your money on Worst Case Scenario Card Game) and eating gumbo.

And since I didn't take any photos of myself this morning, I'll finish off this post with the photos that we used on our Christmas Card for this year.
Loving this family of mine and wishing yours a very Merry Christmas!

CHARLESTON'S WENTWORTH MANSION

CHARLESTON'S WENTWORTH MANSION
Last month, Brad and I celebrated our seventeenth wedding anniversary with a road trip to Charleston, South Carolina. Because of the occasion, I wanted to stay somewhere special and I came across the Wentworth Mansion in downtown Charleston. I couldn't pass up the chance to stay in a mansion, so we booked a room months in advance and got to call her home for three nights.

The construction of the four-story 24,000 square foot mansion was completed in 1886 for the Rodgers Family.
The entrance hallway runs the width of the home and is paved with colored English tiles.
The mantel carvings are the work of Emile T. Viett, who carved them on site.
Details, details.
Original Tiffany stained glass can be found throughout the home.
Our room was on the second story and was once a sitting room.
More to come on the places we visited and dined. but we very much enjoyed our stay at the Historic Wentworth. It was so incredibly warm and inviting and full of charm. And the staff was phenomenal.

XC RUNNING WITH WYATT || THE BOB JONES FRIENDLY FIRST CHANCE 2.1 MILER

And we're off to the races... or meets that is. (Still getting used to the cross country lingo.) Wyatt and his teammates participated in their first XC meet of the season today, The Bob Jones Friendly First Chance 2.1 Miler. The team bused over first thing this morning and racing began around 8:00am. Wyatt is a member of the Athens Junior Varsity team which includes 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. The JV team competed against nine other local schools and ended up winning 3rd place overall! 🙌🏼 And Wyatt set a personal record for himself, finishing the 2.1-mile race with a time of 15:33, averaging 7:24 per mile. 👏🏼 We are so excited for the season ahead and look forward to watching our Big Stuff and his buddies continue to grow in the sport.
🧇Finished up the morning at Waffle House, because traditions.🧇

BACK TO SCHOOL 2021
They’re masked up and back in the classroom. Chicken was so excited to go back - just a little bit apprehensive moving to the intermediate school. Wyatt wasn’t really excited nor was he disappointed. He did lose a tooth last night - a little reminder that even though he’s huge, he’s still a kid.

And as always, Dags coming in hot with the photo bomb. 💣

TWELVE YEAR OLD WYATT

TWELVE YEAR OLD WYATT

TWELVE years old!!! It seems unreal, yet, here we are. Happy Birthday to you, Wyatt, our Mr. Big Stuff. You continue to be a lover of all things gaming, with Hollow Knight and Super Smash Bros taking up most of your free time. We were kind of tired of buying you video games and gaming consoles over the years, so you saved up your cash and bought yourself a Nintendo Switch this past year. (That was a fun story... remember literally running through Target because we called and there was only one left on the shelf and they wouldn't hold it for us because they were in such high demand during the pandemic.)

You have grown five inches this past year. FIVE INCHES!! And now you're as tall as me. No doubt, I'll be looking up to you this time next year. Heck, you might even outgrow your father by the time you're an official teenager. Un. Real. Before your sixth grade school year ended, you joined the Cross Country team and you've spent the summer practicing with your team. We are so proud of you and look forward to cheering for you at your meets this fall. #runwyattrun Happy Birthday, Buddy!

Love you, Wyatt!
