EXPLORING THE CAROLINAS || WHITEWATER RAFTING

Sunday, October 23, 2022

Delta Mae and I took a mommy/daughter trip over Fall Break this year and we cruised through the Carolinas, stopping first in Asheville, North Carolina. We spent the first day hanging out downtown, but the fun really started first thing the next morning.

I booked us a full day whitewater rafting adventure on the French Broad with Nantahala’s Outdoor Center, so we made a short drive to Marshall, North Carolina, and we suited up. (Wetsuits provided at no additional cost.)

Our guide’s name was Maris and she was an absolute pleasure. She navigated us through the waters with ease and filled us in on interesting facts along the way. Her instructions were straightforward as far as what paddling we needed to do to position us into the best spots along the river. There were some pretty incredible views along the way, too.
The full-day excursion comes with lunch and they prepared a wonderful build-you-own wrap bar atop one of the rafts. Pretty great meal with a view.
A little over six hours later, we made it back and got to take a look at the action shots that were taken of us along the way. They got some pretty great shots and you can tell we were having a great time out on the river.
Neither Delta Mae nor I had ever been whitewater rafting before, so it was special sharing this first together. Looking forward to doing it again someday down the road.

Up next, The Biltmore! 🏰
